Cyborg Batman
Cyborg Batman is...well...a Cyborg. Apparently this is what's gonna happen to Batman in less than 500 years. I'm thinking it may happen sooner...if Batman were real...which he isn't. Anywho, this counts as one of my least favorite figures because DING DING DING! You guessed it: The AWFUL pose. Don't get me wrong. This is a nice figure, and a great awesome concept. But if he wasn't posed that way he would have more playability. Either way despite his extreme crouch pose, this Batman has a LOT of personality. You can totally hear the Terminator score when you look at him.
This was my first Legends of Batman figure. I got it in 1995, and it's also my first Batman figure with a plastic cape. I'm sure you already noticed that he is worn a bit. I've never been 100% pleased with the figure. I remember being 6 years old and being excited about all these new figures, but I was used to the neutral posed figures from Batman Returns and BTAS. I got this figure right before Batman Forever hit theaters, so I would end up being forced to like plastic capes. I am very partial to cloth capes of all kind, and while I respect how these figures' plastic AND posed capes give them a ton of personality and comic book appeal, cloth capes are the best.
He comes with a spring loaded launcher with a red two piece missile and his cape. His butt being worn is proof that he got into some nasty slip and slides with some villainous characters!
"I'll be BATMAN!"
I may have failed to mention that he's got light piping in his head, which is DEFINITELY the coolest thing about it. Maybe someday I'll take a picture of the figure's eye channeling a laser pointer. The only other Batman figures that I know have light piped eyes are BTAS The Scarecrow, Legends of the Dark Knight The Scarecrow, Batman Begins Scarecrow figures and that one animated Batman figure with the light up backpack...forget the name at this time.
Final thoughts: Not a bad figure. There is never a bad Batman figure. This figure is very VERY cool and I appreciate the colors he's painted in. The blue is dark and menacing, the silver contrasts well with the black and blue, and he has a ton of personality. If anything I feel this figure is underrated, perhaps for the issues I mentioned above. If there was ONE Batman figure that I would want with 14 pts of ball jointed articulation, I would nominate this figure, as well as other Legends of Batman figures such as Power Guardian Batman and its repaint, and Samurai Batman. There is a WB repaint of this figure in darker colors. Maybe someday I'll hunt it down and review it as well.
Next up: Future Batman!
I'll be BATMAN! Hahahha great one man, been reading your blog as I myself am a Legends of Batman collector and love this blog!
ReplyDeleteHehe I'm glad you like it. Sorry for the lack of updates, been busy with real life. I'll be doing DC Direct's Long Halloween figures and afterwards it's nothing but BTAS!!!!
