The Riddler



The quirky conundrum! The green quagmire! The cleverest carbon based life form! Played by Jim Carrey, it was the most memorable thing about Batman Forever. Does the figure carry it over?



A very interesting yet odd figure, he's got a computer attached to him and comes with a mysterious brain drain backpack...but more on that later.



I'm not too happy with this sculpt, to be honest. Unlike Two-Face who looks just like he did in the movie, I would have preferred it if the Riddler was dressed in the outfit he wore when he first met Two-Face. But that's ok because they made other Riddler variants with more accurate costumes.



So what exactly does he want to do with that brain drain helmet anyways?



Get into Bruce's mind! Now, one part Riddler, another part Mad Hatter, Batman Forever's Riddler incorporates more aspects about Mad Hatter's technology than it does Riddler. While both are techno freaks, Riddler is about the traps and the puzzles, while Hatter is about getting into people's minds...same with Hugo Strange...and Scarecrow to a degree. I was never happy with how the character was portrayed. I guess they were trying to go after Frank Gorshin, but they totally missed the mark. They went over the top, and they just couldn't tell!

Two-Face

Harvey Harvey Harvey Dent... Two Face here is featured just like he looks in the movie. He looks a lot like Tommy Lee Jones and his outfit looks nice. He even comes with a molded pistol in his left hand!



It's refreshing to see a villain in a sea of variants, isn't it? He comes with a triple cannon that fires missiles in an interesting way: pull the trigger, let go and missiles will come out flying. No metal parts, none of that friction firing method. This makes it so the missiles fall out if the cannon is upside down. He also comes with a life sized good/evil coin.



Additionally, he can pick up the cannon and carry it with him as a hand held weapon.



Perhaps most interesting about this figure is that he comes with a replica silver dollar that is scarred on one side. It's handy for when you wanna leave things to chance: unbiased, unprejudiced...fair!

It's a nice figure, definitely recommended for any fan of Batman Forever.

This, along with Tide Racer Robin and Riddler make up for the three Target exclusives. Featuring shinier repaints, these figures are nicer and somewhat harder to find...although that's not true for Tide Racer Robin or Riddler, but it is absolutely true for this figure.



I'll do a bit of a compare and contrast in a bit, but I have to say that this Batman is actually a redhead! Like me! When was Batman ever a redhead?



While I like the former version a lot, I prefer this version better! I love its shiny green armor. I think it looks good.



Again he can wear the blades on the back, but this is somewhat harder to do on mine...weird. The green plastic on the blades and elsewhere is INCREDIBLY FRAGILE so be careful!



Green with envy you say?



Color differences on Bruce are few except for the red hair which is very odd.



The original Bruce/Batman figure here is my own so as you can see his battle armor is worn and one of the pegs in the back is broken. Also, Target's Batman doesn't have painted eyes. Is this an issue with me? Either way it makes this Batman look REALLY DEAD. Creepy!



Both are awesome figures, a great yet fragile mold. If you're a sucker for snap-on armor figures then this is for you! Next we shall be looking at the scum of Gotham: The terrible duo! I mean...trio!
