The Huntress

The Huntress

Helena Bertinelli at the time of this figure's release WAS part of the Bat-family, which is why I am including her. Batman could not reconcile with her killer ways and she got booted...or something like that. Now, this was THE ONLY FEMALE FIGURE IN TOTAL JUSTICE! Why? Because Wonder Woman didn't make the cut as she was supposed to have been released in wave 4 or further in the line. Sales for this line were bad despite how nice it really was, so she ended up in the Justice League of America line.

This is also the only figure of The Huntress I own. I think she's pretty nice and comes with character appropriate weapons: One small crossbow likely a repaint of animated Poison Ivy's crossbow, and a BIG ASS techno-crossbow that when missile is fired, the wings move forward like a real crossbow. She's got good details and is accurate to her comic book counterpart.

Her cape is very hard to remove so don't ask.

That's it for Total Justice. I actually have a wave four Green Lantern vs. Dr. Polaris from the DC Super Heroes line. I say wave four because that GL variant was meant to be released THEN, but by then the line was unfortunately cancelled resulting in one of the most painful unreleased toys from that epoch because they were going to be the best ones. Speaking of DC SH, that's what we'll be looking at next! Stay tuned!

Also, I'd like to take this time to ask for help. If anyone wants to do a guest review of a figure I don't have (mostly modern figures, Hot Toys, Mafex Batman, Square Enix etc.), please let me know or send me a review and I'll post it giving you full credit! Also I'd like to ask for additional help finding weapons and figures I don't currently own or that I have lost over the years. For example, I am actually missing Combat Belt Batman's BELT! I have his black missile, but it's badly damaged. Thankfully I can borrow the missile from Rapid Attack Batman. I'm also missing things like Animated Robin's glider, Knight Star Batman's missile, etc. I'll post a list soon. If you have those parts and want to lend/sell to me, let me know. Also, does anyone have a Piranha Blade Batman complete? Anyone wanna do a guest review of that when the time comes? Stay tuned!

Fractal Armor Batman

Fractal Armor Batman

It can be argued that this line was entirely made up from original figures and no variant. What defines a variant? A variant is a figure of the original character that comes in a different non inspired comic book sources. The reason why Batman figures have so many variants is because it's plausible for Batman to have more than just his normal costume, even when they sometimes come in weird and wild colors. Ironman can have variants because well, he's Ironman. Superman can come in Superman blue or red or in that weird black outfit from Death of Superman, etc. Fractal Batman IS THE ONLY VARIANT in this line, despite the whole Martian fractal tech-gear storyline. If there was gonna be one variant in this line, it had to be Batmaan.

This is a nice figure, with lots of detail, nice colors, etc. The pose is silly but at least he can stand up without much trouble. They are rather easy to find, too.

He can he can hold his weapon either on his hand or on his shoulder holster, which is part of the helmet/visor and cape. Very unique and cool if you ask me.

Overall, I think this is a nice complementary figure for the line, BUT WAIT! There's MORE!

WB stores had their own exclusive line of Total Justice figures called DC Super Heroes! They were all repaints, and luckily I have Fractal Armor Batman's repaint. I didn't wanna open him up because DANG that is some nice art on the packaging! There's specs on his back and everything. Now, I have to say the following as an addendum to this and other TJ reviews: None of the figures in my TJ collection ever came in package. I bought them loose at some point last year so to me these are pretty new. The packaging came with specs on the back and a little story. I also found out that there was a comic book series designed to sell the toys, which I also hear it sucked despite the nice artwork. Next up: THE HUNTRESS!

Total Justice Robin

Total Justice Robin

This is one of my favorite Robins ever. Not only is he armored, but he comes with tons of weapons, and boy does he look angry.

He's got tons of details, and yeah he comes in a silly pose, and he can't really make his hands rotate, but it's the tons of accessories he comes with that makes him so cool. He comes with a standard issue disc launcher, a bo staff he can hold by the handle or with both hands, and at the ends of the bo staff there are two attachments with a movable blade. Very cool. Oh and let's not forget about the chest plate. Without the armor he looks pretty nice. I love the bright, vibrant Robin colors.

I really enjoy the look and accessories of the Total Justice line. They can be sorta kooky at times, like Superman's Kyrptonite ray gun or Hawkman's giant claws, but the accessories are always character specific like Green Lanter's armor being made out of his ring, and of all the kooky things they could have done, they gave Robin his trademark bo staff.

Without a doubt this is my favorite Total Justice figure, and while I only own Batman family characters, I'm pretty sure including the rest in my collection wouldn't change my mind. I highly recommend it.

The dynamic duo looks great with and without armor together. If you have Batman, get Robin.

Total Justice Batman

Total Justice Batman

Hello true believers! I'm back! Did you miss me? Oh wait, last post was...YESTERDAY! It feels like forever though, but that is because today I will review a totally different line! Total Justice by Kenner was the second time since Super Powers that Kenner (slowly becoming Hasbro by this point) tried making all new comic style superheroes! Man this was a cool lookin' line, except for repeating the same mistakes done in legends: Super posed figures. But these figures had so much personality and detail! They were almost scary. Now, technically TJ was a Batman line with packages all having the Batman logo on top of them. In other words, Batman here is leader of the Justice League. The story said that Batman had developed weapons with martian technology to combat a phantom menace (Darkseid). The line lasted 3 waves, the fourth one staying unreleased. Some figures were later used for the Justice League of America line which featured re-issues and repaints along with some new molds. I will only focus on Batman family figures: Batman, Robin, Fractal Armor Batman and Huntress, who in this point in time was indeed a member of the Bat-family, 'till she proved an irredeemable killer.

You may have noticed the first flaw of the figure: heavily posed. Otherwise this is a very nice figure, and I'm an absolute sucker for snap on armor! The armor is nicely detailed and it has an alien feel to it. Armor consists of 2 leg parts, chest plate, two detachable rockets that pivot 360 degrees and helmet. Take them off and they reveal an interesting and buff Batman figure with loads of personality. I actually like the pose on this figure, and unlike the LoB figures, this one can stand easily.

This is where things get funkay! The cape is a two part cape which rotates around an axle and goes up and down the figure's back. This is kind of odd and unsightly in my opinion. This feature was never repeated again, but it is interesting and unique. You can pose the cape on flight mode or in all sorts of different poses.

Overall a cool figure. Most figures in this line have some sort of snap on armor which is really cool. This figure got repainted or kit bashed several times: JLA holo Batman, Batman (black version), Batman (blue version), Batman Hero collection #2 and forgive me if I don't remember any more.

"I'm Batman!"
